- In August 2006 I left RWTH and became a teacher for computer science and mathematics at secondary school (Gymnasium St. Wolfhelm in Schwalmtal, Germany).

- 1994 - 2000 : Study of Computer Science with Medicine as subsidiary subject at RWTH Aachen
- 2000 : Diploma-thesis on "Approximation Algorithms for DNA Fragment Assembly - The Shortest Superstring Problem."
- since 2000 : Scientific researcher (PhD-student) at the Department of Computer Science I, RWTH Aachen
- October 2003 - February 2004 : Research stay with Prof. Peter Widmayer's group at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.
- May 2006 : Doctoral degree (Dr. rer. nat), thesis on "Algorithmic Aspects of Some Combinatorial Problems in Bioinformatics"
